We opened the horse!

We battled the crowds to ski the first day of kickinghorse pow - and it was great! They opened CPR ridge late morning and while it didn't take long to get tracked out, was still fun and soft all day!! It was such a beautiful day and we were all so exhausted at the end of it.

Perfectly topped off with a couple of beers and bar snacks on the way home..

Ice skating on Lake Louise

We beat the snow! Its not often around here (apparently) that the lakes freeze solid with no snow on them. This year, it happened and we got the chance to ice skate all over the lake instead of just one tiny rectangle of it. It was also crystal clear right to the bottom, really cool to see the bubbles that got trapped mid way to the surface and huge cracks in the ice. I guess there is a bonus about the snow being late after all. Anyway, now its white like usual. Bring on the snow! I hope everyone is doing a snow dance for us :)

Hanging around

This was the best part of our pre season training - Cable riding the gondola. It was great, this year we had a couple of days to familiarize ourselves with the cable riding set up in case we have to perform an evacuation during the season. So, we all got lots of rides.

In case you arn't sure what going on in the pics - First we climb the tower and clamber over the sheaves to the cable, then we ride down the cable to the cabin, open the door, climb down, belay all our quests to the ground, then absail down. Sounds like fun aye.. it is.
